Cape Town City Tour

What to expect

The City Slicker experience, where you can take in as much of The Mother City that you came here for. An action-packed tour where we take you on a journey experiencing life as a Capetonian as well as tick off some of the major attractions on your bucket list. No better way to start the day than with a view from the top! We head straight to Table Mountain Aerial Cableway for you to enjoy the panoramic vistas of the Mother City in all her glory.

Once Table Mountain is conquered, we weave through the bustling streets of Cape Town’s vibrant city centre. The CBD is the heart beat of Cape Town and there is plenty worth seeing. We take you past the Houses of Parliament, the Grand Parade and City Hall from where Nelson Mandela first addressed South Africans after his release in February 1990. A must try is the artisan coffee experience at Truth Coffee for a quick pick-me-up and great photo opportunity in the uniquely designed HQ of the award winning roastery. If African Art is of interest, a meander through Greenmarket Square is on the cards for you. We continue your tour of the city visiting St Georges Cathedral and The Slave Museum for a little history.

In the heart of the CBD lies South Africa’s first garden. The Company Gardens is Cape Town’s green lung. A park and heritage site originally created in the 1650’s as a refreshment station for the Dutch East India Company that would stock up on fresh produce grown in the garden – hence “The Company’s Garden”. Today a thriving urban space where buskers strum guitars and squirrels play.
This is followed by a visit to a Cape Town landmark, The Castle of Good Hope. The oldest existing colonial building in South Africa. Originally located on the coast line of Table Bay, following land reclamation, the fort is now located inland. On a visit to the Castle you can even see a blacksmith in action – just as he would have operated during the 17th and 18th centuries when castles housed their own forges.

From old to new, we cruise through to Kloof Street, Cape Town’s artisan business movement full of trendy bars and eateries. Whether you are looking for a roof top cocktails at Yours Truly or delicious fare at the Van Hunks gastro-pub – the choice is yours!
The day is ended in Cape Town’s most distinct neighbourhoods – Bo-Kaap. Situated at the foot of Signal Hill on the fringe of the city centre, formerly known as the Malay Quarter this eclectic suburb dates back to the 1760’s where numerous “huurhuisies” (rental houses) were built and leased to the slaves. These people became known as the Cape Malays and were brought from Indonesia, Malaysia and the rest of Africa to work in the Cape by the Dutch East India Company. We take you for a walk down memory lane and visit the Bo-Kaap Museum, explore the Islamic “kramats” and snap beautiful pics of the distinctive multi-coloured houses that line the cobble stone streets.
